NEVER TOO OLD

Developed during a darkroom workshop course with the Firestation Darkroom and Future Hackney.

As we age, movement becomes more critical than ever—yet we rarely see sport and fitness represented by people over the age of 60. This series aims to correct that imbalance, making older fitness communities and individuals in Hackney more visible.

The project begins with Norma, an actor and dancer in her 80s who practices Pilates and Tai Chi. Spending a few days with her at home and in her pilates studio provided an intimate window into her world. Her strength, energy and zest for life reframes the narratives around ageing, proving that connecting with our physical bodies only grows more vital with time.

Ultimately, this work is a celebration of longevity, designed to inspire all generations to find joy in physical movement.
